Day 11 - Another picture of you and your friends

You have to be pretty good friends to pull off this kind of an adventure... here I am in Nauvoo with some of my very favorite people in this world. I know, I have a lot. But it still means a lot when I say it. We didn't put those hats on just for the picture... we made them and then wore them for a couple of hours while we watched Signs on halloween weekend, in the last standing cornfield in Nauvoo. And despite what we told the sheriff (we took shifts?) we did all fit into one little car. With our chairs. The sheriff had obviously never seen Signs, but we did finally convince him that we weren't hostile.

I picked a picture of Nauvoo friends because the whole experience was somewhat of a social turning point for me. Obviously I had good friends before I went to Nauvoo, but there was some kind of magic in this particular group that welcomed me so completely, and indeed in the fact that I didn't feel out of place around anyone in the program. That was a first for me. I had felt out of place a lot in my life. I don't think they knew what they were doing, but my Nauvoo friends showed me that I didn't have to feel out of place, and ever since then I've been able to make my own place and feel comfortable socially in many, many places. That's one reason I have so many amazing friends in my life!

  2. ha ha ha! "OH! You're my JSA kids!" and "I'd rather face someone with a gun than in tin foil hats." and "Just don't start a fire." I still laugh every time I think of it! Remember the look on the face of the backup? I wish I still had that paper we wrote everything down on! Thanks for posting this Meagan, I needed a good laugh today.
