Back home and beyond

I figured I would wait to write about our trip to Ellicott City and Connecticut until I had a few pictures. I didn't actually take any, but Stephen took a few that were not strictly of the wedding. But it may still be a while before I get them on my computer. So this is a picture-less post.

Wednesday night we drove down to Henderson, and my cousin Alyssa took us to the airport in Vegas for our flight... at 12:45am. I've never done the red-eye thing. Not to that extreme anyway. It was a full flight. Seriously... who knew that many people fly at midnight? I guess Vegas never sleeps. Anyway, we were on the very back row of seats, but we got lucky because the row next to us was empty, so the stewardess let Stephen and have it to ourselves. We had a little delay in Cincinnati because of the fog in Baltimore, but we were home by 11:30am. It was nice to have a full day ahead of us to spend with my family. I got my hair cut, and it is super cute. Even Stephen thinks so, and he was so scared for me to get rid of it. I saw my good friends, Nicole and Amelia. We even went to Cindy's for a snowball sunday, an absolute staple of my summer. And we were in bed by midnight, because Friday we had to get up and drive to Connecticut.

We left Ellicott City with plenty of time to spare in order to be in Torrington before 6pm. We were going along just fine, and then we totally missed something. I still don't know what. But we ended up in the middle of New York City at the exact time that I didn't want to be there... 3 in the afternoon. We were lost for like 2 and a half hours. It was really something. We finally got back to 95, but we weren't in Torrington until 6:45... and the rehearsal started at 6. Good thing Jen and her mom love me. Bridesmaids kind of need to be at the rehearsal. It was fun to meet all the other people in the wedding party. We were especially glad to meet the best man, who made it from London in spite of his flight being canceled because of the Iceland volcano.

I am so glad that I was able to be there for Jen's wedding. We got engaged the same weekend last July, and I suggested that if she wanted me to be there, she better hire my husband to be her photographer. She did a good job convincing TJ that it was a brilliant plan. Their wedding was beautiful. Stephen took pictures during and after the ceremony, and at the reception. He took at least 800 in all. I can't wait to see them all. There are definitely firetrucks involved.

The reception ended at 5, at which point Stephen and I got on the road and drove back to my house in MD. We were there before 1am, and we even got to stop at Cracker Barrel for dinner. Sunday I got to sing in church with my parents, which was a real treat. My friend Amelia Meier, who was one of my bridesmaids, even met us at church! She graduated last week, and is visiting her family in VA, but she came to hear us sing, and I was so glad to see her. Grandma and Grandpa were also there, and after church we all had a wonderful dinner before Stephen and I were off the the airport again. We got to Vegas around 9:30, Alyssa picked us up and took us to our car at Aunt Robin's house, and we drive straight back to St. George. It was a fast trip. Lots of driving involved. But definitely worth it to see my family and my friends at home!
