Who buys plane tickets for Christmas in April? Is it even possible? I'm here to tell you that, miraculously, it is possible. And I'm pretty sure I can promise that NO one is going to get a better deal.
A few weeks ago I joined airfarewatchdog.com. Since air fares are on a steady climb towards insanity, I didn't think it was going to help much. I caved and got a very pricey ticket (well, mom did) for June because I didn't want to keep waiting and just watch them go higher. Last week the best watchdog price for the SLC to BWI route was $438 round trip. Yikes. But today was a different story all together. Today the watchdog price for SLC to BWI was $158. Yes, that is round trip. Granted, it comes to about $210 with taxes and fees. At first this was bad news for me... I should have waited! We could have had a deal!!!!! But it gets better. I noticed that these prices (only on United and Continental flights) are good for 330 days of travel. That's a pretty long time. Usually you don't get plane tickets that far in advance. But I checked. Travelocity.com - departing December 21, returning December 29. $215 per person. Total. Taxes and fees included. Done and done, again thanks to mom. I haven't seen a deal like that in YEARS. Especially at Christmas time. Who knows, maybe this deal was only today. But I got it, so I'm happy.
So that's a win for airfarewatchdog.com. You should all join it.
