Belgian Waffles

One thing that is rather detrimental to my desire to eat food that is better for me is my love of Belgian Waffles, and the awesome belgian waffle maker that we got as a wedding gift. They are just so yummy! And even better with chocolate chips, which only makes things worse. I do feel a little better about myself when I make apple spice waffles - with applesauce instead of oil. But not much. Granted, we don't eat them every week like we used to. I try to keep it to once or twice a month. But I wish there was such a thing as healthy belgian waffles. Maybe that would defeat the purpose. I was looking at recipes today, and I came upon one called Pumpkin Cinnamon Belgian waffles. Holy cow that sounds amazing! But it sounds more like desert than breakfast or dinner.

But I guess I can start small. I'll keep out the chocolate chips. I'll use half white/half wheat flour. I'll add some cinnamon and allspice to make them sweet without syrup. And I'll make some honey butter. MMmmm. Haha. Baby steps.

I'm trying to use more wheat flour because they tell me at Curves that white flour is the devil. haha. I tried to make honey oatmeal wheat bread the other day, but it was a miserable failure. I did have success with wheat flour tortillas, which were amazing with my fajitas the other night. Those will definitely become a staple of my dinner calendar. I wish I had a picture of them, because they even looked amazingly tasty.
